Microsoft removes Windows posts recommending 32GB RAM as it now sells 8GB Surface PCs
Microsoft has erased two guides from its Windows Learning Center that previously advised users to install 32GB of system memory for gaming. Links to these articles now redirect to the main Learning Center homepage.
What changed and why it matters
In November 2025, an article titled "How to optimize your gaming PC setup" was published, describing 16GB as sufficient for most players while labeling 32GB as ideal for demanding games or heavy mods. Earlier in May of the same year, a similar guide positioned 16GB as the baseline and 32GB as a "no worries" upgrade.
Both pages are now gone. Microsoft has not explained why either article was removed, but the context suggests one clear reason: the company is grappling with memory shortages and adjusting its advice to match current market realities.
