Liquid Knock Out DarkZero, FaZe Beat G2 as Osaka Swiss Stage Opens
The Swiss Stage of the BLAST R6 Major Osaka kicked off with eight matches, delivering several major upsets and expected results.
The biggest story of the opening day was Team Liquid's victory over DarkZero. After fighting through the Play-In to reach this stage, the Salt Lake City champions suffered a tough start, putting their title defense under immediate pressure.
DarkZero wasn't the only high-profile team to drop to 0-1. The Chinese representatives struggled early, as Sharper Esports defeated EDward Gaming and Geekay Esports took down Weibo Gaming. Other results from the first round include:
On the other hand, the favorites largely held their ground. FaZe Clan secured a victory over G2 Esports, a result widely anticipated for the Phase 2 contenders. Team Falcons also moved to 1-0 by beating Fluxo W7M, while M80 defeated LOS.

With the Swiss Stage moving into Round 2, winners will face winners and losers will face losers. For DarkZero and EDward Gaming, the margin for error has significantly narrowed, as a second consecutive loss would leave them with very little room for recovery.
