Konami Announces Rhapsody in Scarlet for PS5, Xbox, and PC
Konami has announced Rhapsody in Scarlet, an original action-adventure game centered on magick and beast combat, set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. No specific launch date was provided at the time of the announcement.
The game is set in 1920s New York City, a vibrant metropolis defined by jazz music and soaring skyscrapers. While the city appears to be in a state of glamour, a hidden conflict simmers among those who practice magick in secret. The narrative follows Ellie Myers, a young magus who arrives in the city to pursue a career as a jazz singer. Her journey takes a turn when she is suddenly transported by a mysterious man to a location known as a sanctuary, where she becomes entangled in a world-shaking conspiracy.
Ellie’s story intersects with Ilya Jones, the young leader of the Seekers, an elite organization of magi. Ilya was raised under the tutelage of her father, Harold, the head of the Sorcellerie Quarter. Although the free-spirited Ellie and the serious-minded Ilya frequently clash, they gradually forge a strong bond as they investigate the schemes of a mysterious mafia. Their investigation draws them deeper into the city’s secrets, revealing a fateful battle that threatens the balance of the world.
Combat in Rhapsody in Scarlet focuses on the bond between magus and beast. Players fight alongside powerful beasts and string together spectacular combo attacks fueled by magick. The game features an expansive arsenal of abilities, allowing players to mix and match close-range and long-range attacks as well as area-of-effect skills to overwhelm enemies.
Ellie Myers is voiced by Cherami Leigh in English and Akari Kitou in Japanese. Ilya Jones is voiced by Hannah Grace in English and Saori Oonishi in Japanese. The announcement was accompanied by English and Japanese versions of both an announcement trailer and a story trailer, along with a gallery of initial screenshots.
