Kim Young-chan: "My strength is having no fear during battles"

The Gran Turismo 7 representative for the upcoming Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya is ready for competition. During a media day in Busan, South Korean athlete Kim Young-chan shared insights into his preparation and identified the key factor behind his competitive edge.

Kim Young-chan, who currently competes for Genesis Magma Racing, admitted that he initially struggled to adapt to the specific requirements of the discipline. However, following intensive training camps, he reported a significant improvement in form, noting that he has been able to compete on equal terms with the Japanese national team representative.

The racer highlighted his psychological resilience during high-pressure racing maneuvers as his primary strength. Drawing on his experience as a professional real-world racing driver, Kim Young-chan stated that he does not fear vehicle contact or aggressive battles on the track. He noted that while his pure lap times might occasionally trail behind others, his ability to execute overtakes during mid-race combat is what sets him apart.

Looking ahead to the Asian Games, Kim Young-chan expressed his ambition to secure a gold medal. He confirmed that he has successfully adapted to the game's mechanics and is focused on performing at his highest level to meet the responsibilities of representing his country.
