HWiNFO to add per-chip VRAM temperature monitoring for AMD and Nvidia GPUs
HWiNFO, a go-to utility for enthusiasts, is set to introduce per-chip memory temperature monitoring. The update will cover all AMD Radeon RX 5000 series and newer (Navi 10 architecture) as well as Nvidia GeForce cards equipped with GDDR6X and GDDR7.
What the change means for diagnostics
Previously, most tools displayed a single average memory temperature, masking hotspots on individual chips. Developer Mumak confirmed that Radeon RX 9070 XT cards will expose two sensors per channel (one per GDDR6 module), while other models will show one sensor per chip.
On the Nvidia side, all GDDR6- and GDDR7-equipped cards from the RTX 30 (RTX 3070 Ti and up), RTX 40, and RTX 50 series will receive per-chip monitoring. Notably, GPU hotspot reporting will also be added for the flagship RTX 50 Series.
Note: The official changelog did not reveal a specific release version or date, though availability is expected soon based on prior announcements.
