HWiNFO adds support for cheaper Arc G Panther Lake handheld processor with 4 GPU cores
The upcoming HWiNFO version 8.55 (build 6095) has added support for another Intel Panther Lake processor. This change log points toward a new configuration aimed at the budget handheld market, potentially shifting the roadmap for Intel's mobile offerings.
A shift toward E-cores
According to leaker Jaykihn, the changelog identifies a processor designated as “Panter Lake-H 080” (PTL-080). This refers to an unannounced Arc G-Series processor featuring a specific core layout: 0 Performance cores, 8 Efficient cores, 0 Low Power Efficient cores, and 4 Xe3 GPU cores.
This 0+8+0+4 configuration marks a departure from a previously reported budget model. Back in August, leaks suggested a different low-end design featuring 4 Performance cores, 4 LP E-cores, and the same 4 GPU cores. If this new configuration moves forward, Intel might opt for a purely efficiency-focused design for its entry-level handheld chips, replacing the previous P-core based model.
Replacing or expanding the lineup?
Currently, there are four known configurations for the Arc G-Series: two officially announced and two reported via leaks. However, it is possible that both leaked designs may not reach mass production. If the PTL-080 configuration is finalized, it could effectively replace the earlier 4+0+4+4 design reported by insiders.
While the high-end Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme processors feature 10 and 12 GPU cores respectively and operate at up to 35W TDP, these budget-oriented Xe3-based models are expected to target a much lower power envelope. While specific power limits for the PTL-080 remain unconfirmed, its focus is clearly on maximizing battery life in portable gaming devices.
