HP OmniDesk Mini: Compact Desktop Featuring Intel Wildcat Lake
HP is expanding its desktop portfolio with the introduction of the OmniDesk Mini series (M05-0000 model). A key highlight of this lineup is the integration of Intel's new Wildcat Lake family, specifically targeting the Core 3 and Core 5 segments.
Despite its ultra-compact footprint of just 13 × 13 × 4.8 cm, the mini-PC is designed for office productivity, multimedia, and space-constrained workstations. Notably, HP is not relying solely on high-end Core Ultra models; by offering more affordable Wildcat Lake variants, the company is bringing this architecture to the mainstream mini-PC market through a major OEM.
Processors and AI Capabilities
The lineup features three primary processor options:
- Intel Core 3 304: 5 cores and 5 threads with a max turbo frequency of 4.3 GHz, 6 MB L3 cache, and an AI Boost NPU delivering up to 15 TOPS.
- Intel Core 5 315: features a maximum frequency of 4.4 GHz.
- Intel Core 5 320: 6 cores and 6 threads with speeds up to 4.6 GHz and a 16 TOPS NPU.
While these NPU performance levels fall short of the high-end Copilot+ class found in larger Core Ultra processors, they still provide dedicated hardware acceleration for local AI tasks.
Memory and Storage
For the Wildcat Lake-based platforms (internally referred to as Uran), HP offers several LPDDR5X-8533 configurations with capacities of 8, 12, or 16 GB. It is important to note that the memory is soldered onto the motherboard and operates in single-channel mode, which may impact memory bandwidth.
Storage options include NVMe SSDs up to 2 TB (supporting PCIe 4.0) in 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB capacities. Some entry-level board variants may utilize UFS storage instead.
Connectivity and Power
The compact design is facilitated by the use of an external 100W USB-C GaN power adapter. This approach allows the chassis to remain extremely small (13 cm edge length) and lightweight, weighing approximately 475 grams.
The connectivity suite is robust for its size, including:
- USB-C ports supporting up to 10 Gbps (some with DisplayPort 2.1 output);
- Two USB-A ports (10 Gbps);
- An HDMI port;
- An "RJ45" Ethernet port (supporting up to 1 Gbps on Wildcat Lake boards);
- A combo audio jack.
Wireless connectivity is provided by either Realtek Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.4 or Intel Wi-Fi 6E with Bluetooth 5.3.
For users requiring higher performance, HP also offers OmniDesk Mini variants based on the Panther Lake architecture (such as the Core Ultra 5 325, Core Ultra 7 356H, and Core Ultra 9 386H), which feature significantly more powerful NPUs.
