Halo Studios says it is 'absolutely our intent' to release new books despite layoffs and rumors
Halo Studios cannot guarantee that previously announced novels will hit shelves on schedule, but the company remains "determined" to see these projects through. This comes amidst a major shakeup at Xbox, which included mass layoffs at the studio and the franchise moving under Activision supervision.
With rumors circulating about a potential lore reboot from Activision, questions have mounted regarding the future of the series' narrative. Franchise writer Alex Wakeford addressed this in a recent Halo Waypoint blog post, specifically discussing two upcoming stories: Troy Denning's novel «Halo: Fireteam Noble» and Kenneth Peters' novella «Halo: Burn the Road Home».
Wakeford stated that it is "absolutely our intent" to see the Fireteam Noble project reach completion, noting that a significant portion of the editorial process has already been conducted. The novel, which takes place after the events of Halo 5, was previously slated for a release next year.
Regarding the newly revealed novella, «Burn the Road Home», the studio expressed similar determination to finish the work. Earlier communications suggested the novella would arrive "out of slipspace" next year.
Despite the internal restructuring, Halo Studios confirmed that the Halo Fest event scheduled for December will proceed as planned. However, Wakeford also signaled the end of his Canon Fodder series, leaving the door open for future authors to continue the storytelling for the Halo community.
