hallzerk: "Even though daps is not here, it's still unforgivable how bad we played"
NRG has exited the iBUYPOWER Masters FML 2026 in 5th–6th place following a loss to Wildcard. After the match, AWPer Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli addressed the team's lack of preparation, the absence of their coach, and their overall performance in Counter-Strike 2.
The team faced significant logistical hurdles due to their coach's illness. Since daps was unable to travel to the LAN, the players had to rely on mobile devices for preparation and received tactical advice via WhatsApp and voice notes. While hallzerk noted that the coach attempted to support them remotely, the circumstances were far from optimal for a high-level tournament.
Despite a strong opening day, NRG failed to maintain momentum. hallzerk expressed deep disappointment with the performance, stating that the team fell short of their goal to reach the finals and expected at least three wins. He attributed the struggle to individual inconsistencies and a lack of cohesion on CT-sides, describing the gameplay as somewhat chaotic—a critical issue to resolve ahead of the upcoming Major.
For hallzerk personally, the event marked a return to competitive play after a period on the bench. He admitted to feeling slightly "rusty" due to a week without practice before the tournament, but emphasized that he feels mentally strong and energized. He also highlighted that playing alongside his longtime friend Grim helped him feel more comfortable within the new roster.
NRG concludes the event in 5th–6th place, taking home $1,250. The squad now faces a period of review to address the tactical and individual errors identified during the tournament.
