GRAC, Seoul YMCA and KGA Sign MOU to Protect Player Rights
The Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Seoul YMCA and the Korea Game Users Association (KGA). The partnership aims to protect player rights and foster a healthier gaming environment.
The three organizations will collaborate on joint events and promotional campaigns specifically designed to protect loot box users. A key part of the agreement involves establishing a system for responding to urgent issues, such as providing relief for damages, and fostering cooperation through research and information sharing.
The initiative seeks to leverage the expertise of each entity to tackle user protection challenges related to loot boxes. By building a foundation for public-private cooperation, the organizations aim to ensure that player opinions are reflected in future policy and institutional improvements. Seo Tae-geon, chairman of GRAC, emphasized that a collaborative framework involving civil society and public institutions is essential for building a gaming environment that players can trust.
Leaders from Seoul YMCA and KGA also intend to share their respective expertise to carry out projects dedicated to cultivating a healthy gaming culture. This move builds on existing efforts by GRAC, which has been operating a loot box damage relief center since February 2026. The center has already seen success in mediating settlements between foreign game publishers and domestic players.
