Gigabyte AI TOP 100 B850: Workstation with RTX 5090 or Dual Radeon AI Pro R9700
Gigabyte is expanding its AI TOP portfolio with a new desktop designed to handle heavy local AI workloads without relying on cloud infrastructure. The AI TOP 100 B850 pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X with up to 128 GB of DDR5 memory, offering a choice between a single NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 or a dual AMD Radeon AI Pro R9700 configuration to maximize video memory (VRAM).
Configurations for Large-Scale AI
The system is powered by the 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 9950X (Zen 5 architecture) and comes equipped with 128 GB of DDR5 RAM and a 2 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Thermal management is handled by a 240-mm liquid cooler from the AI-TOP series.
The primary differentiator for AI developers and researchers is the GPU selection. The system is available in two distinct setups:
- A single NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 featuring 32 GB of GDDR7 memory.
- A dual AMD Radeon AI Pro R9700 configuration. Each card provides 32 GB of VRAM, totaling 64 GB. It is important to note that this is not a single contiguous 64 GB memory pool, but two separate modules, which is a crucial distinction for software compatibility in generative AI tasks.
This dual-GPU AMD option is specifically aimed at users needing high VRAM capacity for running large language models (LLMs) locally.
Hardware and Connectivity
The B850 chipset motherboard provides the necessary bandwidth for these configurations, featuring two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, a PCIe 4.0 x2 slot, and three M.2 slots (two supporting PCIe 5.0). To support the high power demands of such a setup, Gigabyte has integrated a 1,600W ATX 3.1 power supply with 80-Plus Platinum certification.
Networking is also a priority for data-intensive workflows. The system includes dual 10-Gigabit Ethernet ports (utilizing Marvell AQtion AQC113C controllers) for high-speed access to network storage, alongside Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The complete system weighs approximately 25 kg.
Gigabyte has not yet announced the pricing or availability for the AI TOP 100 B850.
