Gen.G Esports to Face Hanwha Life Esports in the 1-0 Bracket of Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage

Following the opening round of the Worlds 2026 Swiss Stage, the matchups for the second round have been set. In the 1-0 bracket, Gen.G Esports will take on Hanwha Life Esports. The winner of this Best-of-1 series will move one step closer to the Knockout Stage.

The first round delivered several major upsets, most notably from China. All four LPL representatives failed to secure a victory, leaving the region with a combined 0-4 record. In contrast, European teams found success against Chinese opponents, as Movistar KOI defeated Bilibili Gaming and Karmine Corp took down Anyone's Legend.

The clash between Dplus KIA and G2 Esports stood out as a highlight of the round. While G2 Esports controlled the game for approximately 30 minutes, a decisive teamfight at the Dragon allowed Dplus KIA to turn the tide and secure the win. Other first-round results include:
