Frostpunk: Survival Strategy Hits Switch on October 19

The steampunk survival strategy Frostpunk is officially coming to Nintendo Switch on October 19, 2026, according to 11 bit studios. The port of the 2018 hit will also be playable on the Switch 2, though specific technical details regarding the next-gen performance have yet to be confirmed.

Editions and Pricing

The release will feature two versions: a Standard Edition and a Complete Edition. The Standard Edition is expected to cost around €30, while the Complete Edition, which includes the The Rifts, The Last Autumn, and On The Edge expansions, will be priced at approximately €45. Limited-time launch discounts of 30% and 35% are planned for each version. Additionally, a playable demo and pre-orders are expected to arrive soon.

Technical Details and Context

While specific details on resolution and frame rates remain unannounced, the developer has confirmed that the user interface has been redesigned for the Switch's smaller display and control schemes have been adjusted. It is important to clarify that this is not the upcoming Frostpunk 1886 remake being developed in Unreal Engine 5, which is slated for a late 2027 release. Instead, the Switch version will utilize the original game's engine and mechanics.

Originally released in 2018, Frostpunk has become a staple of the survival-builder genre. Players must manage resources like heat and food to keep their population alive in a frozen wasteland, often facing brutal moral dilemmas—such as implementing child labor or triage laws—that directly impact the survival of their city.
