Diablo IV 3.1.0 Review: Faster Ruptures, Higher Currency Caps
A strong live-service patch for Diablo IV: less waiting, more room for farming and testing.
Verdict
Diablo IV 3.1.0 Build #72578 arrived on June 30 for all platforms and reads like a patch shaped by PTR feedback. Its strength is not one headline feature, but a set of changes that make endgame pacing cleaner and remove several limits active players regularly hit.
Ruptures are the center of the update. Blizzard increased elite monster spawn rates, made rupture tears sometimes move around the area, made them quicker to close, and made them spawn more often.
Ruptures Move Closer to Healthy Endgame Flow
The best part of the Rupture changes is their focus on rhythm. Diablo IV endgame is at its weakest when players wait too long between meaningful decisions. More elites and more frequent tears should make routes denser.
This does not turn the activity into something entirely new. If the core concept is not for you, pace tweaks will not change that. But for seasonal players who already engage with it, the direction is correct.
Unique Items Get Targeted Buffs
The patch notes list several Unique Item buffs. Light's Rebuke rises from 120-150% to 150-200%, Ward of the White Dove from 55-77% to 77-99%, and Red Sermon from 85-105% to 100-120%. These are concrete changes worth testing before declaring a new meta.
Judicator Oath also changed: damage after an enemy is Judged is now listed as 60% stacking once instead of 8% stacking up to ten times. Blizzard says the aim is to open more Judicator skill possibilities without relying on repeated Judgement procs.
Currency Caps Finally Open Up
The most practical part of 3.1.0 is the cap increase. Obols go from 2,500 to 25,000, gold from 99,999,999,999 to 999,999,999,999, and Gem Fragments from 999,999 to 999,999,999.
Jeweler gem conversion recipes were also adjusted: each recipe should use only two gem types, with requirements shuffled to avoid overlap across conversions.
Score
8/10. Diablo IV 3.1.0 is a strong live-service patch. It does not sell itself as an expansion, but it improves pace, raises important limits, and makes several item paths more interesting.
