CPU-Z 3.01 launches with new PC diagnostic validator

CPUID has released CPU-Z 3.01, a major update that transforms the classic system information utility into a diagnostic tool capable of identifying over 100 potential hardware and software issues.

The core change is the new Validator V3, which shifts beyond simple configuration verification to active health checks. By submitting system data to an online service, the tool analyzes drivers, temperatures, storage health, and pre-installed software, categorizing findings as Critical, Warning, or Informational.

Validator V3 offers three modes: a quick standard check lasting under ten seconds, an XOC mode for overclockers that validates extreme memory timings against multiple data sources to account for modern multi-domain clocking, and a future Advanced Validation mode. The latter will run extended stress tests on the CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage while monitoring temperatures and fan speeds via HWMonitor.

The update also addresses limitations in validating overclocked systems, where previous versions might discard results due to minor frequency discrepancies between independent measurement domains. CPU-Z 3.01 requires a fully updated Windows 7 or newer and is available as a standard installer or portable ZIP file in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
