Look Ma, Wires! Bose Brings Active Noise Cancelling to $99 USB-C Earbuds
While the last decade has been defined by the rise of Bluetooth and TWS earbuds, Bose is making a move toward a classic form factor. The new Bose Active Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds aim to bring high-end noise cancellation to the corded market, targeting users tired of the limitations of wireless audio.
USB-C Power and the End of Charging Anxiety
One of the most significant technical shifts in these earbuds is how they handle power. Unlike older ANC wired models that required a bulky inline battery module, these earbuds draw power directly through a USB-C connection. This eliminates the need for a dedicated battery, meaning no charging cycles and no risk of the battery losing its capacity over time. It also bypasses common Bluetooth issues like pairing headaches or signal dropouts.
The device features a 4.2-foot (130 cm) cable and supports 24-bit/48kHz lossless audio. For gamers, the wired connection offers a latency advantage over Bluetooth, though the benefit is less pronounced when compared to dedicated 2.4GHz wireless headsets.
ANC Modes and Availability
The active noise cancellation system includes three distinct modes: Quiet Mode for maximum isolation, Aware Mode to let environmental sound in, and an ANC Off mode.
Pre-orders for the Bose Active Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds are currently available directly from Bose. Retailers like Best Buy are expected to open pre-orders on October 1, with general availability slated for October 15, 2026. The earbuds will be available in three colors: Dewdrop Mint, Black, and White, with a retail price of $99.
