Blizzard Developers Meet Korean Community at Overwatch Day in Busan
Blizzard Entertainment and Nexon reaffirmed their long-term partnership at the 2026 Overwatch Day event in Busan, emphasizing that the Korean community has been a primary source of inspiration for the game's development since its 2016 launch.
During the developer talk, Blizzard executives Walter Kong, Ben Bell, and Aaron Keller highlighted that Busan holds special significance as the location where the game's narrative for Season 4 is set. The event celebrated the release of the new hero D.Mon, a character originally conceptualized years ago to represent the MEKA unit, featuring a unique playstyle that combines melee and ranged capabilities.
The developers noted that high-level Korean gameplay and meta strategies have directly influenced changes made to the game itself. Additionally, the visual design of Overwatch has drawn inspiration from Korean architecture and cityscapes, including the specific aesthetic of Busan used for the new stage.
Looking ahead, Blizzard confirmed continued investment in the title and expressed a desire to listen more closely to player feedback through Nexon's platform. The studio views Korea not just as a revenue market but as a crucial partner in shaping Overwatch's future direction globally.
