AMD releases mini-PC with 160 GB VRAM and AMD Gorgon Halo
AMD has launched the Ryzen AI Halo Developer Platform in the US. This new mini-PC is built on the Gorgon Halo architecture and aims to significantly increase available video memory compared to its predecessor.
Memory and Architecture Upgrades
The most significant leap in the new platform is the expansion of unified memory. While the previous Strix Halo-based model supported up to 128 GB of RAM, the new Developer Platform accommodates up to 192 GB. This allows users to allocate up to 160 GB of that memory as VRAM for the Radeon 8065S, representing a 66% increase in available video memory over the previous generation.

The system is powered by the Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processor. Regarding the graphics, the Radeon 8065S is a minor revision of the existing Radeon 8060S; it utilizes the same RDNA 3.5 architecture and features 40 Compute Units, despite the updated naming convention.
Connectivity and Pricing
Visually, the hardware remains identical to its predecessor. The connectivity suite includes:

- Four USB Type-C ports;
- A 10 GbE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) port;
- Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support.
However, these memory improvements come with a substantial price increase. AMD is currently retailing the Developer Platform with 192 GB of RAM and a 2 TB storage drive for $7,299. For context, the previous model was listed on Amazon for approximately $3,999.
