Ace Combat 8 Takes Flight: New Releases, CBTs, and HoYoLand
The first week of October is shaping up to be a massive period for gaming, headlined by the release of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve. Alongside this major launch, players can look forward to a wave of new releases, closed beta tests, and large-scale community events like HoYoLand.
The spotlight falls on October 2, when Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve launches. Promising the largest campaign in the franchise's history, the title focuses on deep character narratives and intense, cinematic dogfights. According to Kyuman "Frann" Kim, the game is worthy of the series' culmination, with a Metacritic score of 8.7.
The release schedule for the upcoming days is exceptionally busy:
- September 29: Minecraft Dungeons 2 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered;
- September 30: Princess Maker: Children of Prophecy — the series' first standalone entry in 18 years — and Nivalis Nights;
- October 1: Dynasty Warriors 2: Complete Edition Remaster and End of Abyss;
- October 2: Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, alongside the Last Epoch Season 5 update, "Wrath of the Frost God".
In addition to releases, attention is focused on the HoYoLand 2026 festival, taking place at KINTEX from October 2 to 5. Five key HoYoverse titles will participate, including Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Tears of Themis, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, featuring themed attractions and fan-creation exhibitions.
ARC Raiders has announced a beta test for its PvE mode, running from October 13 to October 20. This test will be separate from the existing PvPvE mode, and no final decision has been made on whether the PvE mode will be added permanently.
