Yellow Brick Games staff report layoffs
Yellow Brick Games, the studio behind Eternal Strands, has begun laying off staff. Several employees have confirmed their departures through posts on LinkedIn, though the full scale of the layoffs remains undisclosed.
Founded in 2020 by former Ubisoft developers, including Dragon Age co-founder Mike Laidlaw, the studio released its first title, the action-adventure RPG Eternal Strands, in January 2025. The game received a free DLC expansion in April of the same year. As of April 2024, the studio's workforce reportedly consisted of 68 people.
According to LinkedIn posts, the following staff members have reported being laid off:
- Derian McCrea (Senior Environment/Hard Surface Artist);
- Adam Clapsaddle (Graphics Engineer);
- Rebecca Bélanger (Software Programmer);
- Jessica Chapados Arseneault (QA Lead);
- Julien Tonsuso (Senior Level Designer).
It is currently unclear whether the layoffs extend beyond these individuals or what specific reasons prompted the decision. These cuts follow a series of recent industry layoffs affecting companies such as Microsoft, Ninja Theory, and Supermassive Games.
