Whitethorn Games Announces September 17 Release for Ephemera Games' 'Kernel Hearts'

Whitethorn Games has officially announced the release date for Ephemera Games' new title, Kernel Hearts. The co-op rogue-like action RPG will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch starting September 17. Due to time zone differences, the release in Japan is scheduled for September 18.

In conjunction with the release date announcement, the developers have updated the currently available demo version. The update includes the addition of Japanese voice acting, along with balance adjustments and improvements to the UI and performance. The studio recommends that players who have already tried the demo return to the game after the official launch.

Kernel Hearts is designed for up to four players in co-op mode. Players take on the roles of magical girls from the M.A.H.O.U Unit, tasked with eliminating angel-like creatures and seizing the throne of God. The gameplay blends rogue-like elements with action, allowing players to combine attacks and spells to deal devastating combos against enemies.

After each run concludes, players can use rewards earned during their expedition to customize their laboratory, which serves as humanity's final outpost. While official store pages for the Japanese version are not yet open, the release date has been confirmed across all supported platforms.
