The developers at Bulkhead are expanding the sandbox shooter WARDOGS with a significant seasonal update. Starting October 15th, immediately following a global progress wipe, Season 2 will introduce a gambling mechanic that allows players to place bets on their own in-game achievements via a new Wager Vendor.

This betting system enables players to wager in-game cash on specific performance goals, such as reaching a certain number of kills or constructing infrastructure. Players can opt for additional restrictions to increase their potential payouts, though failing to meet the criteria results in the loss of the wager.

The update also brings several core gameplay additions:

  • New arsenal and vehicles: a high-capacity SMG, Molotov cocktails, and a tracked anti-aircraft gun.
  • Enhanced construction: players can now build machine gun nests and overhead shelters.
  • Dynamic weather: a heavy rainfall preset that reduces visibility for snipers and pilots and masks the sound of footsteps in close-quarters combat.

Regarding social features, the update introduces a 'Squad Intent' function. This allows squad leaders to publicly declare their group's focus—such as building, FOB attacking, or being 'noob friendly'—to help solo players find compatible teammates. However, the highly requested feature to join servers directly with friends is not included in this update, as Bulkhead stated that developing a friends queue will require significantly more time.
