WAR Project for The Witcher 3 will not work in Remastered version immediately
The release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered has created a temporary hurdle for the modding community. Specifically, the ambitious WAR Project—an ongoing effort to restore a cut plague-themed questline—will not be compatible with the remastered version of the game out of the box.
Mod developer Ferroxius clarified on the project's Discord server that the sheer volume of changes in the remaster prevents immediate compatibility. However, the developers noted they have been in direct contact with CD Projekt Red and Yigsoft for several months, assisting with the testing of the remaster and the mod.io integration prior to launch.
Despite this setback, the team aims to release a Phase 1 update for the Remastered version within a week of the game's launch. This update is expected to include:
- the existing quests from the current demo;
- numerous technical fixes;
- English voice acting for the first phase of content.
Following this, the developers plan to release Phase 2 approximately two months later. This stage is intended to introduce four new quests, two remade quests, and two mini-quests. Once updated, the mod will be exclusive to the Remastered version of the game.
Currently, the WAR Project demo released in June features four out of the planned twelve quests, with another four in active development. The modding team aims to complete the full expansion by 2027.
