Valve rolls back CS2 crosshair update after launch issues
The long-awaited crosshair update for Counter-Strike 2 is finally live, but its arrival was anything but smooth. Following a broken launch that prevented the game from starting, Valve was forced to perform a full rollback before successfully re-releasing the patch after resolving server-side conflicts.
The update introduces several highly requested features for customizing the HUD. Players can now adjust how weapon inaccuracy and spread are visualized, choose an outline color for their crosshair, and utilize a new Static Quadrant style. Additionally, the classic dynamic crosshair now supports negative gaps, and alpha increments have been refined to 0.01. A practical addition is the ability to use grenade crosshairs during freeze time, allowing players to line up insta-smokes before a round begins.
The deployment, however, was marked by technical instability. Shortly after the initial rollout, the game failed to launch, prompting a complete reversion of the client update. This caused a brief mismatch where servers demanded a client version that no longer existed, locking players out of competitive matches for approximately 15 minutes. Once the synchronization issue was resolved, the update was pushed out again.
Due to the inclusion of scope dot scale and color settings into the crosshair share code, the format of these codes has changed. Players using old share codes in their configurations should verify their settings to ensure they remain correct.
- Various clipping fixes were applied to Rush maps.
- The Cologne Major store has been permanently closed, removing team graffiti.
