Valve Resets Immortal MMR in Dota 2 with Patch 7.41e
Valve has introduced a major change to the Dota 2 ranked ladder alongside Patch 7.41e, effectively resetting MMR for all Immortal players. Under the new system, every Immortal account has been adjusted to fall between 1 and 9,500 MMR, regardless of its previous rating.
Preserving Positions Despite Number Resets
Despite the drastic reduction in numerical rating, Valve has preserved relative leaderboard positions. The Immortal Draft threshold remains unchanged at 8,500 MMR. This means players have kept their ranking order despite the numerical reduction in MMR.
The change quickly became noticeable across the professional scene, with many high-ranked players sharing their updated ratings. One of the most striking examples is Alan "Satanic" Gallyamov, who recently reached the historic 18,000 MMR milestone. Following the update, his account now displays 9,462 MMR, illustrating how the new cap has compressed the entire Immortal ladder.
Other Ranked Matchmaking Changes
Alongside the MMR adjustment, Valve also made several ranked matchmaking changes in Patch 7.41e:
- All Immortal players have had their MMR adjusted to a range of 1–9,500.
- The Immortal Draft cutoff remains 8,500 MMR.
- Leaderboard positions and relative ranking between players are unchanged.
- Random Draft and Ranked Classic have been removed from the Ranked mode pool.
- A new option allows players to automatically select all roles when they run out of Role Queue Tokens (disabled by default).
- Players unlocking Ranked mode for the first time now receive five Role Queue Tokens.
During the night of July 31, Valve released Patch 7.41e for Dota 2 alongside the annual Summer Scrub 2026 update, bringing hundreds of quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. The update also introduced The International 2026 Compendium, allowing players to support this year's world championship while earning exclusive rewards.
