Valve Fixes Lag Bug After Trove of Terror Release in Dota 2
The issues involving lag, packet loss, and FPS drops that emerged following the release of the Trove of Terror treasure in Dota 2 have been partially resolved. The bug was linked to client interpolation and occurred even when the in-game counter indicated a stable frame rate.
According to Valve employee Jeff Hill in a Reddit thread, the recent update addressed at least one of the performance issues caused by the new treasure. The problem stemmed from a deeply hidden client interpolation bug, which manifested as network instability or reduced performance despite a steady FPS counter.
The Trove of Terror treasure arrived in Dota 2 on October 7, featuring 15 Immortal-quality items, alongside the Maw of the Megalodon arcana for Tidehunter and the Sepulchral Stalker style for Drow Ranger. Since its launch, Valve has issued several small patches to fix various bugs and visual effects related to the new content, including this interpolation fix.
