Touhou Gensokyo: New Classic Mastered for Sept 10 Release
Shanghai Alice Reprise has confirmed that Touhou Gensokyo: New Classic has reached master status and will launch on schedule on September 10, 2026. The remake of the 2002 vertical scrolling bullet hell shooter is set for release on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC via Steam.
The development team announced the milestone through a video on their official YouTube channel. In the update, ZUN, the original creator of the Touhou Project, also revealed that the game will now support Latin American Spanish. This addition brings the total number of supported languages to 12, including Japanese.
The New Classic edition features high-resolution graphics with 1080p support. All background music tracks have been self-arranged by ZUN. The version also introduces a new mode that allows players to challenge the game with infinite lives.
In addition to the updated New Classic version, the package includes the Classic version, which reproduces the original 2002 game content as faithfully as possible.
The game is scheduled to launch at 00:00 on September 10. Two editions are available: a standard version priced at 1,990 yen and a deluxe version priced at 2,966 yen, which includes a digital sound player app.
