Tokyo Walled City: a new indie immersive sim with stealth and cyberpunk elements

At TGS 2026, indie developer Grim Ronin unveiled Tokyo Walled City. The project is described as a retro-cyberpunk immersive sim that blends stealth action with survival horror and RPG elements.

Set within a walled-off district of a cyberized Japanese capital, the game casts players as a mercenary utilizing parkour and stealth to navigate the environment. The announcement trailer showcases core immersive sim staples: quiet assassinations, disabling lights, hacking security cameras, navigating ventilation shafts, and stealing computer passwords.

While the atmosphere leans into cyberpunk aesthetics, the movement flow and verticality appear heavily inspired by Dishonored. The game also incorporates survival horror elements, such as encounters with unsettling androids, and features firearm combat alongside RPG mechanics. In the absence of a new Deus Ex, indie developers are increasingly stepping up to keep the immersive sim genre alive.

A specific release date has not yet been confirmed, but the Steam page indicates that the game is slated for an early access launch.
