The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition Now Available for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC
Aspyr has announced and released The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition, a remastered version of Snowblind Studios’ 2011 action RPG. The title is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, original Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG). It is priced at $19.99 / £18.99 / €23.99.
In Europe, the Switch 2 and Switch versions will launch on August 18.
The game expands Tolkien’s epic legendarium with a darker, grittier take on Middle-earth, focusing on Agandaur, a Black Numenorean and servant of Sauron who has rallied an immense force in the ruins of Fornost. While Frodo and Samwise embark on their journey to Mount Doom, a new Fellowship must rise to defend the North.
Players can choose from three uniquely skilled characters: Eradan (Dunedain Ranger), Andriel (Elven Loremaster), and Farin (Dwarven Champion). The game features cooperative play with up to two friends online or in split-screen co-op. Deep RPG progression allows customization through unique skills, abilities, and gear.
Iconic locations such as Rivendell, Lorien, the Lonely Mountain, and Mirkwood await players. The experience includes mature storytelling, blood-soaked battlefields, and epic battles against ruthless Orcs, monstrous Trolls, deadly Wargs, spectral Barrow-wights, and Agandaur’s dark sorcery.
