The Last Caretaker Update 6.0: New Regions and Cold Survival Mechanics
The The Last Caretaker development team has showcased Update 6.0: The Jump. The centerpiece of this update is Project Crossing, a new technology involving Transfer Gates that establishes the first connection between the Lazarus Complex and a new snowy mountain region called North Bastion.
North Bastion introduces a variety of new facilities, infrastructure, and story content. This new environment brings significant survival challenges: low temperatures now slow down and damage the Caretaker. To navigate the frozen routes, players will need to utilize new heaters, boilers, and other heat-producing equipment.
The update also expands gameplay systems, allowing players to build Methane Extractors, use methane canisters, unlock new skills, and place custom map markers. Additionally, new Motion Comfort options have been implemented to improve player experience. On the technical side, the team has addressed several issues, including stuttering, Gyrocopter handling, and various fixes related to combat, quests, and progression.
The narrative continues in North Bastion with a major new chapter involving Anna. This content includes reconstruction elements and Permanent Memories, which allow for ongoing interactions with the world even after the main storyline concludes.
