TCL launches first RGB-Mini-LED TVs: RM9L and RM7L
TCL has begun retail availability for two new TV models featuring RGB-Mini-LED backlighting: the flagship RM9L and the upper-mid-range RM7L. Both series utilize a technology where each backlight pixel uses its own red, green, or blue LED. This differs from traditional Mini-LED panels that use white or blue light sources.
RGB-Mini-LED Technology
TCL claims that using separate red, green, and blue LEDs allows for more saturated colors and high contrast. The manufacturer states support for up to 100% of the BT.2020 color space for natural shade reproduction.

Flagship RM9L
The RM9L is positioned as TCL's absolute flagship. Key specifications include:
- Dimming Zones: up to 16,848 zones.
- HDR Peak Brightness: up to 9,000 nits (cd/m²).
- Audio System: integrated system by Bang & Olufsen.
The TV is available in 85, 98, and 115-inch diagonals. The starting price for the 85-inch model is €4,999.
Middle-class RM7L
The RM7L offers the same RGB-Mini-LED technology benefits but with more modest specifications:
- Dimming Zones: up to 2,880 zones.
- HDR Peak Brightness: up to 2,000 nits (cd/m²).
- Audio System: integrated system by Onkyo.
This brightness level is reportedly sufficient for both HDR content and standard TV viewing. The model is offered in 65, 75, 85, and 98-inch diagonals. The price for the 85-inch version is €2,099.
Market Context
The RGB-Mini-LED segment is actively developing: similar solutions are already implemented by LG, Hisense, and Sony. Samsung uses RGB-Micro-LED in this segment. TCL states that its novelties are competitively priced compared to the current market offering.
