Stolen $470,000 Nvidia RTX 5090 shipment appears for sale online
Graphics cards from a stolen shipment of Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, valued at approximately $470,000, have appeared for sale online. Following reports of the heist at a Brazilian airport, a Zotac Gaming model was spotted on the OLX marketplace for over $6,000, with its serial number clearly visible in photos, directly linking it to the missing haul.
The Heist and Investigation
The theft occurred at "Guarulhos" International Airport. According to police reports, two pallets imported from the United States went missing after being authorized for release on September 25. Investigators believe three employees were involved: two outsourced forklift operators caught on CCTV and a "checker" who allegedly cleared the merchandise through electronic controls to facilitate the removal. The goods were loaded onto a truck and have not been seen since.
Airport authorities have stated that the investigation into the circumstances of the theft is currently being handled by the competent authorities.
Market Context
The appearance of these cards on the secondary market highlights the extreme scarcity of the hardware. While the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 is the premier consumer GPU, high demand for AI computing has caused it to virtually vanish from conventional retail channels. In some marketplaces, third-party sellers are listing the cards for upwards of $10,000, making such high-value shipments prime targets for organized theft.
