South Korea sweeps USA eSports in preparation for Asian Games
South Korea demonstrated a significant skill gap in their first friendly match ahead of the Ichi-Nagoya Asian Games. Facing USA eSports on September 19 in Busan, the Korean squad secured a decisive 3-0 sweep.
The opening game saw South Korea take control early on. Zeka (Kim Geon-woo), playing Ryze, secured a solo kill against the enemy Anivia, while Canyon (Kim Geon-bu) on Kiana successfully pressured the enemy Jayce in the top lane. Despite a minor skirmish at 11 minutes that favored USA eSports, Canyon regained momentum with a double kill at the 18-minute mark, leading to a swift victory after taking the mid tower.
The second game was a one-sided affair. Canyon's Pantheon was highly active in ganks, securing multiple kills in the bottom lane, while Zeka on Swain dominated mid-game team fights. The scoreline reached 19-1 in favor of South Korea by the 14th minute, and the match concluded just 19 minutes after starting.
In the third game, South Korea maintained their momentum. Following a successful bottom lane invade that resulted in two kills, Zeka on Twisted Fate further pressured the opposition. After securing the top lane and mid tower by the 16-minute mark, the Korean team closed out the series in 20 minutes.
South Korea is scheduled to face Vietnam on September 20 at the same venue in Busan to continue their preparation.
