Soulframe enters Open Beta this week
After years of invite-only testing, Digital Extremes is finally opening the doors to everyone. The fantasy action RPG Soulframe will enter the Open Preludes phase this week, allowing any PC player to jump into the game without waiting for an invitation.
Soulframe has built significant interest by offering a different take on the MMO formula, focusing on melee combat, exploration, and a slower-paced fantasy setting. The move to Open Preludes marks the largest testing phase for the game to date, providing a massive scale for players to experience the world of Midrath.
The Verse of the Veillands Update
The upcoming Verse of the Veillands update arrives alongside the Open Preludes phase, bringing a substantial overhaul to progression and a more structured introduction to the game. Players will be able to cleanse corrupted regions known as the Veillands to unlock resources, activities, and new areas. Additionally, a wolf companion will be introduced, which can eventually be trained as a mount.
The timing of Soulframe's launch is notable, as the Open Preludes phase coincides with the release of World of Warcraft: Forever, placing the game's largest public test against one of the year's major MMO releases.
