Sony introduces next line of PS5 audio: PlayStation Pulse and Pulse Edge Wireless Headsets
Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed a refreshed lineup of audio products for PS5: the PlayStation Pulse and PlayStation Pulse Edge wireless headsets. These new models feature studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers designed to deliver enhanced bass and superior spatial accuracy.
The core focus of the new lineup is sound quality. Both the PlayStation Pulse and PlayStation Pulse Edge headsets utilize custom planar magnetic drivers to improve sound separation and spatial precision, making it easier to pinpoint directional cues like footsteps in competitive games. The Pulse Edge model specifically features drivers with double the magnet volume compared to the standard PlayStation Pulse, aiming for even deeper bass while maintaining clarity.

Connectivity is handled via PlayStation Link technology, providing lossless, ultra-low latency audio. This allows users to seamlessly switch between supported devices, including PS5 consoles, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac. Additionally, the headsets support simultaneous connection to Bluetooth devices.

For communication, both models include integrated microphones with AI-enhanced noise rejection to filter out background sounds. The updated design features rotating earcups for better portability and comfort. The headsets will be available in two colorways: White and Midnight Black.

The Pulse Edge is designed as the premium option in the lineup. In addition to the enhanced driver setup, it includes active noise cancellation (ANC) and a detachable boom mic, which can be used for crystal-clear voice chat or hidden when not in use. This model also comes with a dedicated carrying case.

The PlayStation Pulse wireless headset is scheduled to launch in select markets during the upcoming holiday season. The PlayStation Pulse Edge is expected to arrive in early 2027. Sony has stated that further details regarding pricing, pre-orders, and specific launch dates will be shared soon.
