Sandustry is the first factory sim that truly captures industrial waste

Sandustry, the new factory simulation from Lantto Games and Hooded Horse, has entered Early Access on PC and Mac, offering a unique twist on the genre by treating every pixel of industrial waste as a physical resource with its own gravity.

Unlike typical factory builders like Satisfactory that focus on survival mechanics, Sandustry casts you as an alien prospector whose primary goal is to turn buried sand into gold. The game distinguishes itself by simulating the physicality of industrial waste; excess production doesn't just fill neat storage pallets but creates towering, chaotic piles of debris that can choke your machinery and overflow into tunnels.

The gameplay loop involves setting up conveyor networks to sift sand for gold while managing the resulting residue. This "waste" is not permanent; it can be repurposed into new materials like seeds or compressed fuel as you unlock upgrades. The game encourages players to sculpt these refuse piles, turning what looks like clutter into valuable raw material.

Sandustry aims to capture the bleak beauty of post-industrial landscapes, where every grain of dirt tells a story of forces acting upon it. It is a simulation where nothing is truly lost, only transformed, inviting players to manage a planet full of ancient ruins while avoiding the creation of terrible mountains of spoil.
