SanDisk Pokémon Portable SSD Mewtwo Edition and USB-C Flash Drive Mew Edition Announced
To celebrate the franchise's 30th anniversary, SanDisk has released two new Pokémon-themed storage devices featuring Mewtwo and Mew. The company confirmed that these specific legendary and mythical Pokémon are intentionally excluded from appearing on the drives themselves.
The external SSD, named the Sandisk Pokémon Portable SSD Mewtwo Edition, features a raised 2D design of Mewtwo on its surface. This tactile element is designed to appeal to collectors and fans who appreciate physical details beyond simple printing. The drive is available in two capacities: 500 GB and 1 TB. It connects via USB-C and supports speeds up to 1,000 MB/s when paired with a host system that offers at least USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbit/s). The device measures approximately 45 x 85 x 10 mm and weighs around 33 grams.
The second product is the Sandisk Pokémon USB-C Flash Drive Mew Edition, which displays the original Pokémon, Mew. This smaller stick offers a single storage option of 128 GB. It is significantly more compact at 49 x 21 x 12 mm and weighs only 6 grams. The flash drive operates over USB 3.2 Gen 1 with a maximum read speed of 250 MB/s.

Both products come with a three-year warranty. SanDisk positions these items for creative professionals, collectors, and Pokémon trainers. Pricing for the SSD starts at approximately €126.99 for the 500 GB model and rises to €208.99 for the 1 TB version. The USB-C flash drive is priced at around €32.99.

This release follows a similar trend seen last year with Smurf-themed drives, indicating that SanDisk continues to produce limited-edition merchandise alongside its standard storage lineup. While these devices offer no unique performance advantages over standard models, they serve as commemorative items for the franchise's milestone birthday.
