Rumor: NRG and bonkar reach verbal agreement on extension
NRG has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with their VALORANT head coach, Malcolm "bonkar" Rench, to extend his contract for three years. The news comes from Sheep Esports, though no official announcement has been made yet.
bonkar took over the roster ahead of the 2025 season. Under his leadership, NRG secured a second-place finish at VCT 2025: Americas Stage 2 and achieved the organization's first world championship by winning VALORANT Champions 2025 in Paris.
According to Riot Games contract database records, Ethan "Ethan" Arnold, Adam "mada" Pampuch, and Giorgio "keiko" Sanassi are under contract until the end of the 2027 season. However, the contracts for Logan "skuba" Jenkins and Brock "brawk" Somerholder are set to expire this year.
NRG's next major challenge is VALORANT Champions 2026 in Shanghai, running from September 24 to October 18. The team begins their title defense on September 25 against Nongshim RedForce in Group D. The tournament features a $2.25 million prize pool.
