Larger than GTA 4: Leak Reveals Rockstar's Plans for Liberty City in GTA 5
A massive 192 GB archive has surfaced, offering a glimpse into Rockstar Games' ambitious plans for GTA 5. Data uncovered by dataminer TJGM suggests that a planned expansion titled "LibertyV" would have introduced a Liberty City significantly larger in scale than the one seen in GTA 4.
The Scale of Liberty City and the Nature of the Leak
By utilizing development tools like CodeWalker to analyze zone and audio data along the coastline, TJGM was able to reconstruct a rough outline of the planned game world. The findings indicate that the GTA version of Liberty City was intended to cover a much larger area than its predecessor in GTA 4.
While the presence of test terrain files and development tools confirms that concrete work was underway, it does not necessarily mean the DLC was near completion. The reconstructed outlines based on coastal data represent a conceptual layout rather than a fully realized city environment.
Origin of the Data and Other Cancelled Content
According to Insider Gaming, this archive is not the result of a new breach but stems from the massive 2022 hack of Rockstar Games. While some early GTA 6 footage was leaked previously, this latest release contains a broader range of internal files that have been circulating in smaller circles until now.
In addition to LibertyV, the leak contains remnants of the cancelled "Agent Trevor" DLC. This includes assets for large interiors—such as a villa with extensive underground rooms—as well as materials for a space-themed mission. The archive also contains early map assets from the early development stages of GTA 6, though these are too preliminary to provide reliable information about the final game's world. Rockstar Games has not officially commented on the authenticity or the contents of these leaked files.
