The story begins in the 15th century with the ritual Magna Venari: The Great Hunt. It is not a hunt for pleasure or profit, but an ancient practice aimed at answering one question: why do some survive while others do not. This mission was carried out by members of the organization Kallipolis.

The Era of Erangel

In 1965, after seventeen days of fighting, Soviet soldiers began burying the dead on Erangel. When mass graves were insufficient, bodies were piled in heaps and set ablaze. In the rush to finish, no one noticed the small boy — Sergei Kalimnick, the lone survivor of Erangel. He would become the Godfather of Battlegrounds.

Gulag Secrets

In 1983 in Taegu, South Korea, a cadre of murderers and mobsters was released under the promise of killing notorious executioner Kangjae Ma. The ensuing riot and Ma's escape were captured on closed-circuit TV security footage. These recordings, known as Gulag Tapes, became a hot item on the black market, attracting the attention of crime lords.

The Birth of Battlegrounds

In 1994, one hundred people were chosen and dropped onto an island. Left to scavenge for weapons, they fought until only one remained: Vir Solidarius, the lone survivor who became a legend.

The Golden Age and Future

In the 21st century, games were held on maps like Vikendi, Miramar, Sanhok, and Taego. This was the golden age for Kallipolis. However, by the 22nd century, the world had changed: war, economic collapse, and environmental ruin led to rich people living on sovereign island nations called Retreats, while the poor fought for scraps in mega-slums. The only way to escape poverty was to obtain a Combat Visa, earned solely by winning Battlegrounds. The game remains legal and public, but just as brutal.
