Persona 4 Revival producer rules out Yosuke romance option due to workload

Persona 4 Revival producer Kazuhisa Wada has confirmed that the remake will not include a romance option for character Yosuke Hanamura, despite the development team having considered the request.

The original Persona 4 contained cut voice lines suggesting Yosuke was intended to be romanceable. However, in the upcoming Persona 4 Revival, this feature will not return. Producer Kazuhisa Wada explained his reasoning to GamesRadar.

Kazuhisa Wada noted that while some fans were hoping for a romance option, implementing it would require adding similar options for all other male characters in the game. He stated: "If we did Yosuke, we kind of would have to do all the other male characters as well. And if we did that, that is a lot of work." Consequently, the team decided to prioritize their schedule and resources over this specific feature.

The decision comes alongside other confirmed changes to Yosuke's character. Wada admitted that the original portrayal was "a little bit insensitive" regarding how he treated outsiders. The remake aims to make Yosuke more fitting for the modern world, though the team chose not to address his romantic storyline as part of these updates.

This decision highlights the significant scope of work required for a full remake. While Persona 4 Revival is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, certain narrative elements from the original title will remain unchanged due to practical development constraints.
