Overwatch 4 Midcycle: Team Drives and BlizzCon 2026
Blizzard Entertainment announced that Unvaulted Passes for Overwatch will be delayed to the start of Season 5 to allow additional quality assurance testing. The studio also confirmed that Team Drives return on September 4, leading up to BlizzCon 2026, where the Overwatch World Cup will conclude its final stage.
Game Director Aaron Keller explained that the feature was originally scheduled for the Season 4 midseason update. However, the team decided to push the release to ensure the long-requested feature is as bug-free as possible when it finally becomes available. Blizzard stated that more details on how Unvaulted Passes will function will be shared before Season 5 begins.
Team Drives are available starting September 4 and run through September 6. Players must complete their competitive placements to participate, after which they can queue solo or with friends to climb the Gladiator Ranks together.
BlizzCon 2026 takes place on September 12–13 and will feature a full weekend of Overwatch content. The event will be livestreamed for free, including the Opening Ceremony, major panels, esports matches, and other programming. Viewers can follow the official Overwatch and Overwatch Esports channels on Twitch and YouTube. Rewards are available for watching eligible streams, and attendees can link their BlizzCon Pass to their Battle.net account by September 14, 2026, to receive show-specific rewards.
The Overwatch World Cup reaches its final stage at BlizzCon, where the remaining contenders from conferences around the world will compete for the title. The event will feature live competition in an arena setting, alongside developer panels and playable experiences. Members of Team 4 will also take the stage throughout the weekend to discuss the development of Overwatch and share upcoming plans with the community.
