No Man's Sky players build utopia at the end of the universe

In the distant reaches of a doomed universe, No Man's Sky players are building a thriving utopia at the end of the cosmos. The Galactic Hub Project, founded 10 years ago by community member Conor (7101334), has evolved from a small documentation group into a massive in-game civilization spanning three galaxies and nearly 100 regions.

The project began as a response to the game's controversial 2016 launch, creating a safe haven for fans who loved Hello Games' procedural universe. What started as a simple coordinate-sharing initiative quickly snowballed into a formalized society. Players established the United Federation of Travelers, bringing together various factions like the Galactic Empire and the Qitanian Empire to standardize records and foster cooperation.

The community's resilience was tested when the Next update in July 2018 fundamentally changed the game, rendering years of documentation obsolete. Rather than abandoning their efforts, the Hub relocated its entire civilization to a new home as part of the Ark Project. This bold move marked a turning point, allowing players to interact directly via multiplayer for the first time.

Today, the Galactic Hub is more than just a cataloging project; it is a bustling in-game society with its own capital region, defense force, and live events. The community has successfully transformed from a fractured group of early adopters into a unified force of optimism, proving that collaboration can flourish even at the edge of the universe.
