Nintendo Switch Online adds three new NES classics
Three new retro titles have joined the Nintendo Switch Online library, expanding the NES Classics collection available to subscribers on the Nintendo Switch.
The latest additions include Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom, IKARI WARRIORS, and R.C. PRO-AM II. These games are now accessible to all active Nintendo Switch Online members, joining the existing catalog of titles from the Super NES, Game Boy, and NES systems.
Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom serves as the third and final chapter of the original Ninja Gaiden saga. Players control Ryu Hayabusa, the last member of the Dragon Clan, as he battles forces of evil to uncover the true culprit behind the death of Irene. The title is a direct port of the 1991 release, preserving the original action and narrative structure.
IKARI WARRIORS is a side-scrolling action shooter originally released for the NES in 1987. In this title, players take on the roles of warriors Paul and Vince as they infiltrate an enemy base to destroy a hostile nation. The gameplay emphasizes resource management, as players must conserve limited ammunition while fighting through hordes of enemies. Strategic elements include collecting ammo dropped by defeated foes, utilizing power-up items, and piloting tanks and helicopters to navigate the battlefield.
R.C. PRO-AM II is a 1992 sequel to the classic remote-control car racing game. The update features faster tracks, more challenging opponents, and enhanced competition against both computer-controlled vehicles and human players. Up to two players can race simultaneously across 24 different tracks. The game includes a progression system where players can collect cash prizes during races to upgrade their vehicles by purchasing parts and specialty items at the R.C. MODEL SHOP. Two bonus mini-games, TUG O' TRUCK CHALLENGE and THE DRAG RACE, offer additional opportunities to earn cash prizes and championship points.
These titles are available immediately for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Users without an active membership can access the games through a free 7-day trial, which automatically converts to a one-month auto-renewing subscription at the current price unless canceled. The trial is not available for Nintendo Switch Online – Expansion Pack memberships or for accounts with an existing Individual or Family Membership.
