Digital Games Also Got Pricier
In addition to the hardware, Nintendo changed the pricing model for digital versions of Switch 2 exclusive games. Starting May 2026 (with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book pre-orders), new exclusive digital titles are priced differently from physical versions. Example: Yoshi and the Mysterious Book — $59.99 (digital) vs. $69.99 (physical). Physical game prices remain unchanged for now.
Official Reason
Nintendo cited rising DRAM memory costs as the key reason. Industry analysts report DRAM prices nearly doubled in 2026 due to competition from AI datacenter operators who outbid consumer electronics manufacturers for limited supply.
