Massive VALORANT Outage Hits Europe

On August 13, players of VALORANT across Europe encountered a significant disruption: mass disconnections during matches and an inability to log into their accounts. By 22:21, the Riot Client displayed a notification confirming that Riot Games is aware of the issue and is actively working on a solution.

Users reported being abruptly disconnected from ongoing matches, followed by being logged out of their Riot Games accounts. Attempts to re-enter the game resulted in error VAN 84, indicating a lost connection. Some users were unable to log back into their accounts at all, while for others, the Riot Client would not open.

According to official Riot Games support, error VAN 84 occurs when Riot Vanguard fails to complete a system check or encounters an issue during initialization. The fact that this issue affected a large number of European players simultaneously points to a broader disruption in Riot Games' services.

At the time of publication, developers had not provided further comments on the situation. There was also no separate warning about issues with VALORANT in Europe on the official service status page. The causes of the disruption and the timeline for full restoration of the game remain unknown.
