Marvel's Wolverine leads US September charts
Marvel's Wolverine topped the US game sales charts for September. According to Circana data, it achieved the highest monthly dollar sales for a Sony-published title since the release of Helldivers 2.
The game's success coincided with significant momentum for PlayStation 5. In the US, PS5 spending rose 43% year over year, while unit sales increased by 22%. This resulted in Sony reaching its highest monthly hardware dollar share since May 2025.
While PlayStation grew, other platforms saw declines. Spending on Nintendo Switch 2 dropped by 12%, and Xbox Series X|S unit sales in the US fell by 27%, with the Xbox ecosystem reaching a record September low for console sales. Overall content spending in the US dipped 2% to $4.2 billion, driven by a 14% decline in mobile, though PC spending saw a notable 27% increase.
The September top 10 also featured NBA 2K27 at number two and EA Sports FC 27. Despite its drop in rank, NBA 2K27 surpassed Resident Evil Requiem to become the best-selling game of 2026 year-to-date. Other top performers included Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave and The Blood of Dawnwalker.
