League of Legends Patch 26.17: Riot Buffs Irelia, Qiyana, Yasuo and Yone

League of Legends Patch 26.17 has officially arrived, bringing a significant wave of balance changes to the standard game mode alongside updates for League Classic, Arena, and ARAM: Mayhem. Riot Games focused this update on adjusting the power levels of several key champions, with notable buffs for Irelia, Qiyana, Yasuo, and Yone, while applying nerfs to Vayne and Nasus. The patch also introduces new cosmetic skins for Seraphine, Soraka, and Jinx, available starting August 26, 2026.

In the main game mode, Riot Games implemented changes across 14 champions and two items to refine the competitive landscape. The most impactful adjustments were made to the duelists and assassins who have seen significant shifts in recent patches. Irelia received a substantial buff to her core kit; her Bladesurge now deals significantly more damage with an increased attack damage ratio, while her Defiant Dance offers improved magic resistance scaling and her ultimate Vanguard's Edge now grants a much higher Ability Power ratio. These changes aim to make the Blade Dancer more viable in extended fights.

Qiyana also saw meaningful improvements, with her Elemental Wrath gaining both base damage and an increased bonus attack damage ratio. However, Riot tempered this by reducing the monster damage modifier, ensuring she remains a threat to champions rather than becoming an unstoppable force against jungle monsters. Meanwhile, Yasuo and Yone received adjustments to their passive mechanics; both now deal reduced critical strike damage reduction, which slightly alters their early-game trading dynamics.

Conversely, the patch applies nerfs to champions who have been performing above expected levels. Vayne faced a comprehensive adjustment: her base health and regeneration were tweaked for better scaling, while her ultimate Tumble now costs significantly more mana at lower ranks. Her signature item interaction via Silver Bolts was also reduced in terms of true damage percentage and minimum damage thresholds to prevent her from becoming too oppressive against tanky targets.

Nasus, the traditional scaling threat, received a nerf to his passive Soul Eater, reducing the life steal percentage at all ranks. This change aims to slow down his snowball potential in the mid-to-late game. Other champions like Aurelion Sol, Cho'Gath, and Graves received smaller tweaks, including reduced mana costs for Aurelion Sol's ultimate and increased base damage for Cho'Gath's spikes, while Graves saw a reduction in the bonus attack damage scaling on his return shot.

The item pool also underwent revisions. Stormrazor received a buff to its attack speed percentage, making it a more attractive option for champions seeking burst potential. Sundered Sky was adjusted by reducing its base health and attack damage, likely to encourage players to seek alternative defensive or offensive stats depending on their build path.

Beyond the standard game mode, Riot Games released a second major update for League Classic. This version includes a roster of 60 champions with extensive balance changes. Notable adjustments in League Classic include buffs to Annie, who received increased damage on her abilities and fixed bugs related to her ultimate scaling. Ashe gained range and damage on her Volley, while Garen saw improvements to his base stats and ability damage per second. The update also introduced new champion swapping mechanics during the build selection stage and added two free rune pages for all players.

Arena continued its balancing cycle with updates released alongside this patch. Several champions received cooldown reductions or stat adjustments, such as Garen's passive delay being shortened and K'Sante gaining bonus health ratio on his footwork ability. Item changes in Arena focused on removing specific modifiers to ensure consistency across game modes, while augments like Death's Servant received extended durations. The update also standardized the release schedule for Arena balance patches to occur with every odd-numbered League of Legends patch.

The patch concludes with a series of bug fixes and system updates. Riot addressed various issues ranging from visual effects on reconnecting to incorrect damage calculations for specific abilities. System requirements for League of Legends on macOS were also updated, providing clearer guidelines for players on Apple devices. These technical improvements ensure a smoother experience as the community adapts to the new balance state introduced in Patch 26.17.
