kyxsan: Aurora needs time to translate practice form into official matches

The loss was decisive from the start. On Anubis, Aurora looked competitive for much of the map before G2 mounted a late comeback. The European squad eventually won nine rounds in a row to close out the encounter, leaving Aurora unable to recover. kyxsan believes the team's early mistakes played a major role in the collapse.

I just think they played a bit different than they usually do. They kind of caught us off guard for the first few rounds that we lost, and then it was a bit hard for us to adapt. I feel like we gave away too many entry kills, so almost every round feels like it's 4v5, and it was a bit hard to play because of that.

The captain also admitted that Aurora's overall performance was far below the level they have shown behind closed doors. For kyxsan, the biggest issue is not necessarily the team's tactical potential, but its inability to reproduce the same ideas when playing official matches.

We just behave differently in practice, and that's one thing that's annoying me right now. So the next goal is to just try to repeat everything we do in practice to be able to do it in official.

The IGL explained that Aurora are still adapting to a completely new approach compared to the previous version of the team. The current roster has only been together for around a month and has played just its second LAN tournament.

I'm still not sure because it's only our second LAN tournament, so I still don't know anyone for that long. One thing could be that we are playing a bit differently than the old Aurora, we are trying to have a different way of playing, and we have a different way of preparing for the game.

Despite the disappointing results, kyxsan is satisfied with the progress Aurora have made during their short time together. He also highlighted the trust he has received from the players and coaching staff while implementing his ideas.

I think overall it's been good. I would say that practice is going pretty well and I'm able to implement what I want to do in this team, and the players and the coach are trusting me since day one, so that's really important for me.

The team's playstyle is primarily shaped by kyxsan and coach ashhh, while XANTARES also has a significant role on the CT side. At the same time, the IGL wants his teammates to have enough freedom to bring their own ideas into the game.

I would say that it's mostly my and ashhh's responsibility, and obviously on the CT side XANTARES is helping a lot. I want every player on my team to have freedom in the team, and they do have it.

According to kyxsan, Aurora should not be expected to reach their final level immediately. The team is still developing its playbook and gaining experience together, meaning several months may be needed before the roster reaches its desired level.

We haven't really set a time for ourselves, but I would say that it's logical that after a few months maybe we have some expectations.

The loss to G2 sends Aurora into the lower bracket of the BLAST Open Fall 2026 group stage, putting additional pressure on the new roster to recover in its next match. For kyxsan, however, the main priority is clear: Aurora need to show in officials the same level they have already demonstrated in practice.
