kt, BNK, Hanjin to Compete in Demacia Cup
kt Rolster, BNK FearX, and Hanwha Life Esports will represent the LCK at the Demacia Cup, which begins next month. The tournament's LCK lineup was finalized after kt Rolster lost to Dplus KIA on September 4.
The Demacia Cup, first held in 2014, previously featured only LPL teams. Edward Gaming won five consecutive titles from 2014 to 2016, while Invictus Gaming defeated JD Gaming to claim last year's championship. This year marks the tournament's first global expansion.
Participation includes three teams from the LCK and LPL, two from the LEC and LCS, GAM Esports from the LCP, and the fourth-place finisher from Brazil's CBLoL. The competition follows the same format as the League of Legends World Championship, featuring a Swiss stage followed by a knockout stage for the top eight teams.
Total prize money is 1.5 million yuan, with the champion receiving 600,000 yuan. The event will start online before moving to the JD Gaming Arena in Beijing for the offline phase. Coach voice communication, previously used in the LCK Cup, will also be implemented during the tournament.
